Debbie DoorDebbie Door has been named chairperson of the St. John's Mercy Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Door has been active with the Foundation since its inception in 2004 and has played an integral role on the "Always Ready" capital campaign committee.

Door is a cancer survivor who used the services of St. John's Mercy many times throughout her own life and holds a very special place in her heart for cancer and emergency services.

“I am proud of the work that we do in the Foundation and feel blessed to assist in efforts that make a difference in the lives of those served by Mercy," said Door. "It is an honor and a privilege to act as chair of the Foundation Board of Directors."

A lifelong resident of Union, Mo., Door dedicates herself to her community and has served as county clerk and Franklin County's chief election official since 2002. She has been active in various additional community organizations including being a member and past president of the Washington Rotary Club, president of the Association of County Clerks and Election Officials, co-chair of the Legislative Committee for the Missouri Association of County Clerks and Election Officials, the Washington Public Facilities Board, past chair of the Franklin County Relay for Life, the Franklin County Area United Way, the Franklin County Youth Fair and the American Cancer Society.

"Debbie's leadership in the community and especially at St. John's Mercy Hospital has been vital to the success of numerous projects and has helped raise awareness of our Foundation," said Terri L. McLain, hospital president. "She is passionate and dedicated to our mission and has devoted countless hours over the years to support our philanthropic efforts."

In September, St. John's Mercy Hospital Foundation began its seventh year of service to St. John's Mercy Hospital. The Foundation's mission is to solicit and disburse funds that are used to enhance the delivery of health care while supporting the values and healing ministry of the Sisters of Mercy.  Led by the St. John's Mercy Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, in close coordination with the Hospital Advisory Board and senior leadership, the Foundation is comprised of community leaders who volunteer their time to carry out this ministry.
