Washington River Festival To Be Held June 14th at Washington Riverfront Park PDF Print E-mail

The Washington River Festival will be held on Saturday, June 14th from 10:30am until 4:00pm at the Washington Riverfront Park in Washington, Missouri.  Also on June 14th from 9:00am until noon, a Missouri River Clean-up event will be held.
 
The Washington River Festival will feature educational exhibits, music, kid's activities, food, a World Bird Sanctuary presentation and more.  The entertainment schedule is included below:
World Bird Sanctuary - 10:30 until 11:15Babaloo
Features birds of prey including falcons, hawks owls and vultures. Sit back and enjoy an up close and personal view as some of the birds soar right over head!

River Songs - 11:30 until noon
Hear traditional river songs sung in beautiful harmony accompanied by the talented, local musicians of Peace Lutheran Church (The Church Ladies).

Babaloo - Noon until 12:45 (photo, right)
Babaloo, also known as Rob Compton, gets kids smiling and singing in his controlled chaos and shameless style with his powerful voice and guitar playing. After hearing Babaloo, you’ll be singing and smiling for days.  

Greg Krone and Wayne Roy 1 pm until 1:30 pm
Great Irish fiddling and guitar playing by these entertaining, lively, local musicians.  They’ll get your toes tapping!

Augusta Bottoms Consort    2 pm until 3 pm (photo, right)Augusta Bottoms Consort
ABC's been singing and playing songs inspired by the river and its surroundings for a long time!  Tight harmonies, original songs and interesting arrangements flow out of this unique local band.  

River Jam  3 pm until we stop
Join us for more music and invite your friends to bring their instruments and voices for a spontaneous celebration of music, words and gifts we all share.

The Missouri River Clean-up is a "unique opportunity to work together with your community to get rid of the trash along the Missouri River."  The clean-up will begin at 9am at the Washington, Missouri Riverfront Park Boat Ramp.  Boats will ferry volunteers to river banks and islands to pick up trash that has washed on shore.  Volunteers may also help pick up trash along the riverfront and park.
