Phoenix Park Grand Opening Scheduled, Benefit Walk Planned |

Washington's newest park, Phoenix Park, will have a grand opening on September 13, 2008. A license agreement between the City of Washington, Missouri and Phoenix Center II Development Co., LLC was approved by the City Council on August 4 and made way for the public opening of the park. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 9:00am. The grand opening will include a family walk that will benefit the Down Syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis Associations. Special family activities will be available including a bounce house, face painting, a petting zoo and music. The park, which is located south of Target in the Phoenix Center II development, includes a walking trail, and is accessible via Vernaci Drive or by footbridge from Rabbit Trail Drive. The park has parking seperate from the nearby retail shopping parking lots, and has parking space for over 60 vehicles.
