Early Morning Fire Temporarily Closes Washington, Mo. Schnucks WASHINGTON, Mo. – Leaders of Schnuck Markets Inc., today report there are no injuries stemming from an early morning fire at the Washington, Mo. Schnucks store. However, the store, located at 2073 Washington Crossing, temporarily is closed pending the completion of a significant clean-up effort.
There were no customers in the 24-hour store at the time of the fire; however, four associates were alerted to the fire when alarms sounded at approximately 3 a.m. this morning. Although the fire was contained to a multi-deck meat case on the market side of the store, smoke and soot quickly traveled through the 59,000-sqaure-foot facility causing significant product loss. The associates evacuated without incident. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time. Members of the Schnucks Food Safety team and Franklin County health officials currently are overseeing cleanup efforts.
