In 1963 when the Rothschild family purchased the A & W Root Beer Stand, eating out was simpler than it is today. Back then there was no inside seating; carhops would walk out to take the customer's order at their car and when they returned, they clipped a tray onto the window and then cam back to take it off again. Our menu was very basic then - burgers, fries, hot dogs and, of course, root beer.Over the years, however, we've expanded again and again to keep up with customer demand. We now serve up complete meals from our breakfast specialties to our special fried chicken and catfish dinners. We also now offer curbside pickup -- just call in your order and we'll bring it out to your car. We've seen a lot of changes and we are proud to say we have a loyal following of patrons. We always strive to maintain our family atmosphere while serving homemade food - fast, fresh, and affordable. We have something for everyone!
We are pleased to announce that we will soon debut new menu covers designed by local artist Jim Peters featuring artwork of Washington. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and are open from 6:00am to 8:00pm daily. Rothschild's Restaurant 1026 E. Fifth Street Washington, MO 63090 636-239-7112 (Located across from the hospital)
