9th Congressional District Republican Candidate Forum Held E-mail

The Washington Federation of Republican Women held a forum for Republican Candidates seeking the 9th Congressional District seat on Wednesday, May 7th, at Chico's Cantina Mexican Restaurant in Washington, Missouri.
 
In attendance were candidates Blaine Luetkemeyer and Brock Olivo.  Candidates Bob Onder and Danie Moore were unable to attend because of their duties on the House floor.  Speaking for Bob Onder and Danie Moore were Allison Onder and Paul Prevo, respectively.

Citizens Discussions Focuses on Council Representation of Residents E-mail

At the April 21st Washington, Missouri City Council meeting, resident Bill Kackley used the Citizens Discussions section of the agenda to speak on how he believed the City Council should be representing residents. Kackley commented to the Council "You are councilmembers for the City of Washington, you are not councilmembers for Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4."  Kackley added "in my mind your job is to do what is best for the City of Washington."  Video of Kackley's comments is included below.

 

Responding to Kackley's comments, Linda Jo Webb spoke at the May 5th City Council meeting.  Webb disagreed with Kackley's comments, instead suggesting that ward Councilmembers's should "represent a specific area of the city" and that they should consider "the needs and desires of the people of that specific area".   Video of Webb's comments is included below.

 
Roger Langendoerfer Sworn In As Newest Washington, Missouri City Council Member E-mail

Roger Langendoerfer Sworn into Washington, Missouri City CouncilRoger Langendoerfer was nominated and approved to fill a vacancy on the Washington, Missouri City Council at Monday's Council meeting.  The seat was previously held by Marty Tudor, who submitted his resignation following the April 21st City Council meeting.  After being sworn in, Langendoerfer took his seat on the Council for Monday's meeting.  Roger Langendoerfer had previously served on the School Board for the School District of Washington.
 
Gary Thornhill Recognized at Washington, Missouri City Council Meeting E-mail

Gary Thornhill Receives Recognition for Service to City of Washington, MissouriA resolution was read by Mayor Stratman for Gary Thornhill.  Thornhill was employed by the city for 34 years and recently retired as Public Works director for the City of Washington, Missouri.  Mayor Stratman said of Gary Thornhill, "he is an outstanding example of how we should interact with our patrons."
