I don't have time to fully report on this Pseudoephedrine Ordinance that we past last night but in summary: • Pseudoephedrine is the precursor component in the production of meth. • Pseudoephedrine is a multi-billion dollar drug for the pharmaceutical industry. • Pseudoephedrine temporarily stops a runny nose and there are other drugs that work as well or better. • Law enforcement has been unable to get state lawmakers to pass legislation banning Pseudoephedrine. • The drug industry has one of the most powerful lobbying groups in Jefferson City and just goes to show the priorities of some legislators. • Washington is the first city to say enough and has taken a leadership roll in banning Pseudoephedrine and hope other cities will follow our lead. • Pseudoephedrine killed or maimed 1100 children and infants in America, last year. • We are ground zero for meth production and law enforcement suspects from 2500 to 5000 meth labs operate in Missouri, each year. • It will now take a prescription to purchase Pseudoephedrine products in Washington.
