Ok, the dust has begun to settle on our passage of the Anti-Meth ordinance, last night. This is one vote that had no gray area for me and I woke up felling good about my decision. It was a look your self in the mirror moment.

And even though Charter Cable let us down, once again, and did not broadcast this momentous event, it looks like the owner of www.washmo.com, Jason Oesterly, may have saved the day with his own video. Also, the Missourian covered the meeting and wrote extensively about it in their paper.

What I did not mention in my previous post, on the ordinance, was my comments on the matter, during council. It is a perversion of the American way that our state legislators can't find the fortitude to ignore the pharma-lobby and just do the right thing.  It really shows how corrupting an influence power-lobbyist can be.

Right and Wrong can't be reconciled and there is no middle or gray area with meth prevention. An opposing councilman argued that there may be a legal challenge with our ordinance, I say let the law catch up with us. I look forward to having a large pharmaceutical giant take a meth abuser as a client.

I have also heard, today, that Washington, Missouri may be the first city in Missouri, and quite probably the first in America, to ban the sell without a prescription of  pseudoephedrines.

I call on our Mayor, Dick Stratman, to take the bull by the horns and invite other municipalities to join us in our fight against meth production.

Some say that this ordinance is useless and inconveniences some in our community. I feel we are sending a shot across the bow of large pharmaceuticals and lawmakers.

Meth can't be made without pseudoephedrines. According to Dr. Zupan, other drugs can be used with equal or better affect. The country of Mexico has completely banned the import and production of pseudoephedrine there. Mexico has practically eliminated the use of meth, as a result of the ban. Oregon has passed a similar law with similar results. Drug companies produce magnitudes of more pseuddoephedrine than we need.

So, yes, Washington, Missouri will not stop the production of meth, but we are taking the lead and putting the world on notice that it is time to rid America of this horrible chemical.
