Rehabilitation work on the Route 47 Missouri River Bridge is underway and is on schedule for completion by mid-December 2009. This work is part of the rehabilitation project on the Route 47 Missouri River Bridge, which is located at the Franklin and Warren Counties line.
"The purpose of this rehabilitation project is to help extend the useable life of our bridges," said Judy Wagner, MoDOT Area Engineer for Franklin County. "We want to ensure motorists the Route 47 Missouri River Bridge remains safe during this rehabilitation work. MoDOT's number one priority is the safety of the people who travel on our highways and bridges." "Several citizens have expressed concern about disruption to businesses from the various traffic control measures that MoDOT has implemented for the rehabilitation project," added Wagner. "The closing of certain streets and channeling of traffic is the only option available to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of commuters across the bridge. We apologize for the inconvenience these critical repairs have caused the area." MoDOT and St. Louis Bridge Construction Company have been working together to make the necessary repairs while reducing as much impact to motorists as possible. The reduced weight limit will remain at 20 tons until the rehabilitation project is complete. "Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to provide you a safe and efficient transportation system," said Wagner. |
