Proposed Phase 2 and 3 School District Cuts Published

As mentioned in a previous WashMo.com article ( see: VIDEO: Dr. VanLeer Presents Proposed Phase II District Cuts ), a list of proposed Phase 2 and 3 cuts have been released by the School District of Washington.  The list of Phase 2 cuts were discussed during a January 27th meeting at Washington West Elementary in Washington, Missouri.

An overview of the budget review process is included in this document, which was published by the School District of Washington.  An excerpt from that overview document is included here:

At the Board of Education meeting on January 27, 2010, a revised preliminary Phase 2 budget reduction list was again shared with the Board of Education and others in attendance. The Board of Education will continue to review Phase 2 budget recommendations along with holding another special work session in February (TBD) to specifically discuss the preliminary list and additional ideas regarding savings and revenue generating strategies. A preliminary Phase 3 list of reductions has also been prepared and may need to be implemented in FY2011‐2012, if not before. Phase 3 is under development as the Board considers items that may need to be moved to Phase 2 and vice versa.
